40 Days. It’s a common number in Scripture – 40 days and nights of rain in the flood. For 40 days Moses encountered God on Mt. Sinai to receive God’s laws and commands. Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness before His temptation by Satan. There were 40 days between Jesus’ resurrection and His ascension to heaven that He used to confirm that He was alive and well. Why is forty days so common in Scripture? I don’t know – it’s not magical or even “God’s Number,” but God has often chosen this period of time to do a significant work.
This year, coinciding with the Lenten Season on the church calendar, we are setting aside 40 days and are asking God to do something “God-sized” in and among us. We are asking God to unite our hearts and build His church as we spend this time in focused prayer.
We are asking you to join us during these 40 days which begins on February 14, 2018 and ends on March 31, 2018
