Vacation Bible Camp 2019

June 24 @ 9:00 am - June 28 @ 12:15 pm

VENTURE ONTO AN UNCHARTED ISLAND WHERE KIDS SURVIVE AND THRIVE!

In our 2019 VBS, “Shipwrecked,” kids 4 years old thru’ 5th grade will get anchored in the truth that Jesus carries us through life’s storms, during a fun-packed week of music, games, crafts, snacks, and Bible stories.

This year’s Vacation Bible Camp will address the real needs of children and how Jesus helps us overcome. When we feel lonely. When we worry. When we struggle. When we do wrong. When we feel powerless. Jesus Rescues! These are important lessons from the Bible for all of us. Vacation Bible School teaches through caring adults and youth, music, recreation, new friends, yummy snacks, and experiments which all help teach and reinforce our daily lessons.

Volunteer

Over the years, Vacation Bible Camp has had a powerful impact on the lives of so many kids as they are welcomed into a loving community to hear about the God who created them and wants to have a relationship with them.

As they say, “It takes a whole village to put on a VBC!” We are gathering a wonderful group of volunteers to teach and encourage the children. We would love your help! Would you be willing to serve at VBC this year?

Our primary need is for volunteers to lead crews of elementary and preschool kids for 5 fun filled days June 24th-28th. If you are unavailable for the whole week, we have plenty of ways you can still help out, ranging from greeting families in the morning, registration, being a station aide, tech team, decorating team, working in the kitchen, set-up, clean-up, and we even have opportunities to volunteer before VBC even begins.

FAQs
Q: How much supervision will there be for my child?
Elementary groups generally have 1 leader for every 5-7 children. For preschool there is one leader for every 3-4 children. All leaders 18+ are background checked and leaders under 18 are known or interviewed before they serve.

The easiest way to pay is by using the paypal link found on our VBC registration website.
You may also pay by cash or check directly to Santa Cruz Bible Church at 440 Frederick St. Santa Cruz, CA 95062. Please put “VBC” and your child’s first and last names in the memo. Office Hours are M-TH 9am-12:00noon and 1:00pm-4:00pm.

Q: What if my child has special dietary needs?
We do our best to make snacks as nutritious as possible. However, because of the number of children we have and the various dietary restrictions, we can not accommodate special dietary needs. If your child has food allergies or other special dietary needs, please send them with an appropriate snack they can eat during snack-time.

Q: Can someone other than me pick up my child?
Yes! If you would like someone other than you to pick up your child, please let your leader know at the beginning of the morning when you drop your child off so they will know what to expect. You will need to leave the alternate person’s name and contact phone number (We will have a clipboard available for this information and our leaders will be instructed to follow our safety guidelines. Please be sure to inform the person picking up your child that they will be required to show a picture ID or driver’s license . The safety of each child in our care is of the utmost importance, therefor no child will be permitted to leave with someone else unless we have your permission and we can verify that person.

Q: My child won’t be 4 in time for VBC, but will be turning 4 soon after, can they still attend VBC?
We’d love to say yes to all children, but we also have a cut-off date, and we’ve chosen to accept children who will be 4 by the week VBC begins. However, if your child is close to 4 and you would like to volunteer to help in their classroom and you will remain with your child, we can make an accommodation for that.

Q: Can my middle school student volunteer to help at VBC?
Yes! Typically middle school students 6th-8th grade help as preschool assistant crew leaders. They will need to register as a volunteer and they will need to attend our assistant crew leaders meetings. We will contact you with additional information once they have signed up.

Q: I want a CD with this years VBC music, where can I get that?
We have CDs and download cards for $5 on Sundays in the children’s building, or in the church office Monday-Thursday from 9:00-12:00 and 1:00-4:00. They will also be available the week of VBC.
