Brief description of what you do at SCBC:
I have the privilege of overseeing the Worship Arts Ministry – this means I get to work with lots of gifted musicians and artists in leading worship services. I also have the joy of mentoring young leaders and see them grow in their gifts and passion for Jesus! What a great job I have! My wife Laura and I started attending SCBC before we were married. Our first day was Easter of 1985 – yep,that was a long time ago. I’ve been privileged to serve on the staff since August 1998.

What was your first car?
1962 Ford Fairlane.  Her name was “Betty”…. “Betty Ford”

Where’s your favorite spot in Santa Cruz county?
In my kayak out on the Bay

Favorite place to eat in Santa Cruz?
It’s a tie between Riva Fish House and Taco’s Moreno.

What are your top 3 favorite movies?
The Bourne trilogy (I know that’s 3, but let’s pretend it’s just 1), Schindler’s List, and OK…don’t laugh, but I love Sense and Sensibility (with all girls in the house, let’s just say I’m “in touch”)

What’s your hidden talent or a fun fact about you?
The night I graduated from San Lorenzo Valley High School, my two best friends and I, jumped in 23 different hotel pools in Santa Cruz. I was also a DJ, spinning vinyl records for 4 years in the 80s.

What was your first paying job?
Besides making a couple bucks doing extra chores around the house, my first job was washing dishes at Mt. Hermon Conference Center.  They called the dishroom “the Pit” and boy was it!

Favorite food?
Anything my beautiful Italian wife Laura makes! Really, she is an awesome cook! I also love a great BBQ’d hamburger.

Favorite book?
Besides the Bible, There are 2 books that have influenced me more than any others: Knowledge of the Holy by A.W. Tozer and Worship Matters by Bob Kauflin.

What would your ideal day off look like?
Verve in the morning with Laura, then a late breakfast  at Harbor Café, then off to the Giant’s game for a win against the Dodgers. Late dinner in North Beach, SF.
